Photo-etched lapel pins offer a similar look to the die-struck soft enamel but are less expensive. While most of the customers can’t tell the difference between each other, we have some tips to separate these two types of material. Photo-etched pins are normally thinner than die struck pins (0.8mm vs. 1.2mm thick); motifs are shallower than die stamped logos, and the metal edges are thicker because external shapes are cut after coloring, we have to protect colors being damaged, there is a thicker metal edge left for photo-etched pins.

Dye-struck enamel pins are cut before coloring, no worry about colors been harmed, thus the metal edge of die-stuck pins are usually very thin. The photo etched lapel pin manufacturing process allows for more detailed designs and a wider spectrum of colors to choose from. Epoxy covering is optional and can be specified as thin, flat, or dome.

Specifications

Material : Standard thickness is 0.8mm brass plate. Thicker material is available upon request with unit price increased and the maximum thickness of brass material is 2mm only.
Colors : Soft Enamel (Liquid stage)
Motifs : Made by etching with acid chemical.
Color Chart : Pantone Book.
Strength: The total lead content test of soft enamel colors conform to the specifications of US CPSIA HR4040
Production Procedures: Preparing Films → Transferring motifs from film onto the sheet of brass → Motifs etched by acid chemical → Color Filling (sheet by sheet instead of piece by piece) → Baking at temperature of 160°C → Polishing (sheet by sheet, too) → External Shape Cutting → Attachment Soldering → Racking Before Plating → Electroplating → Epoxy Covering if Necessary → Packing.
