Different effect of Diamond Cut on Brass Coins and Zinc Alloy Coins
Diamond cut on brass coins is done after the completion of the electroplating process, therefore, the original color of brass is revealed after the diamond cut. If the coin is electroplated in nickel, the diamond cut edge shows a brass color and the whole coin has a two-toned effect by nature. (refer to the image below on the left) Diamond cut edge on zinc alloy coin is done before the electroplating procedure because zinc alloy tends to tarnish or be stained without the electroplated coating. Therefore, the overall piece of the zinc alloy coin is in the same tone. (refer to the image below on the right)
